Situated on the Eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains, Lazy River Gypsies is a small ranch dedicated to breeding top quality Gypsy Horses. We have placed great emphasis on finding outstanding mares to serve as the foundation of our breeding program. They represent the qualities that we wish to emphasize and promote in our offspring. We also feel we have found the perfect stallion prospect in Caesar. His first breeding season will be in 2007 and we will anxiously await his first foal crop in 2008.
After forty years of horsemanship, we decided to venture into the world of draft horses. Drawn to their docile temperament, we acquired a few shires to begin our breeding program. Along the way, we discovered the Gypsy Horse and became enchanted. We added them, and the drum horse, to our breeding program. Then reality set in and we came to the conclusion that we were spreading ourselves a bit thin. We were faced with the task of choosing one breed to focus our resources on.
The decision was made easy by the horses themselves. We will be breeding Gypsy Horses exclusively because we feel they have the brightest future.
People become horse owners for many different reasons and have a multitude of uses in mind for them. But everyone wants that package to include not getting hurt and not being afraid. Gypsy horses have been carefully, selectively bred for generations to have docile temperaments above all else. We are convinced that Gypsy Horses are the breed that will most consistently provide that safe and pleasurable experience to horse owners. It doesn't’ hurt that they come wrapped in a package of stunning beauty either.
